LSU defensive end Princewill Umanmielen faces a lawsuit from his former team, Ole Miss, just days before the Tigers are set to play against them. According to ESPN, the 21-year-old was served court papers outside LSU's practice facility on Tuesday (September 15). Ole Miss accuses Umanmielen of breaching a revenue-sharing agreement by transferring to LSU without paying a buyout.
The lawsuit, filed in Lafayette County Circuit Court, seeks $550,000 in damages from Umanmielen. Ole Miss also filed a similar lawsuit against former offensive lineman Devin Harper, seeking $400,000. Both players had signed agreements with Ole Miss in early January before transferring to LSU later that month. Ole Miss claims that it attempted to collect payments from the players and contacted LSU, which declined to pay, stating it was not a party to the agreements.
The legal dispute adds another layer to the rivalry between LSU and Ole Miss, as former Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin now leads LSU. The Tigers are scheduled to visit Ole Miss on Saturday (September 19), marking Kiffin's return to Oxford after his departure.
